Trip Etiquette

A lot of your behaviors are dictated by where you are and what you feel is expected of you. In DC you will be representing yourself, your family, our school, and our county to people from all over the world. Here are some examples of good behaviors to follow while we are in DC:

Bus:

-Boys will sit with boys, and girls with girls

-Adults have preferential seating

-If you are listening to something, you must wear headphones/earbuds

-If someone is trying to sleep, do not disturb them

-Students must drink water in a clear container unless otherwise instructed

-If you make a mess, clean it up

-Throw trash away

-The lavatory is for number ones only, only number two if it is an emergency

-Keep in mind, that the windows do NOT open when making food choices the day before

Hotel:

-Be polite to other guests

-Listen to adults for instructions

-Clean up after yourself

-Make a morning schedule (who has the shower/bathroom and when) and stick to it

-Lights out, means lights out; you will need your sleep

-Your door will be taped at night, once you are taped in you cannot leave until an adult untapes you.

Museums:

-Be respectful of posted museum rules and property

-These museums see thousands of visitors from all over the world, use hand sanitizer frequently and wash your hands when able to

-Be polite to other museum guests

Restaurants/Food Courts:

-Be prepared to order when you reach the counter or the server asks

-Clean up after yourself, try not to make a mess

-The tables might be a little crowded, try not to take up someone else's space

Tours:

-Pay attention to the guides! Do not speak while they are speaking

-Keep up with the group

-Cell phone use should be minimized and primarily just for taking pictures

-Ask questions
